Aldenham GC is a picturesque woodland course. With remarkable trademark holes, such as the beautiful 8th. A very large green, which can lead to many tough pin positions, is guarded by a bunker and out of bounds on the right, trees and out of bounds at the back, a hollow on the right and just to put the finishing touch to Aldenham's first trademark hole there is a pond in front of the green.
The second trademark hole is the 13th, this hole will undoubtedly stick in your mind forever, this year it was mentioned by Peter Allis in his commentary of the Scottish Open. He mentioned it because it measured just longer than one of the holes on the Scottish Open course; the hole there was 600 yds or so where the one in Aldenham is 636 yds. (So now you realise why it is the hardest hole on the course) But this is not the only reason that this hole is difficult. This monstrous hole dog legs right at the start with trees all the way down the right and out of bounds all down the left all the way to the green. The green is guarded by a bunker on the left, which is dangerously close to the out of bounds. On the right of the green there are huge trees in front of the right half of the green punishing any big hitters 2nd shots which veer slightly of line or smaller and less confident golfers bad 3rd shots.
To think, these are only two out of eighteen magnificent holes of golf.
