The cost at Alresford was a inital set back but once i hit my first shot i could see it was worth every penny.
This is a testing downland course on well drained chalk. There is a good variety of Par's with three fairly differcult par 4's of well over 400 yards.
This was a fantastic day out and one of the best games of golf I have played in a long time. Recommended to any golfer.

Dear Hayley, not sure whether you meant to do this, but I remember reading your post somewhere else and it wan't posted by you. It is on this website http://www.uk-golfguide.com/england/25042_reports.html
If you are going to write a post please judge it on your own accounts, it is unfair to the readers of this forum.

Have to disagree with Micheal there.
Played with our society in the depths of March, we could just not fault anything about Alresford GC. The winter offer was superb, the course, a good traditional test with a mixture of some fairly short par 4's with three real long stinkers, a good mixture of directions of play, and a welcome from officials and members as warm as have been found anywhere.
The course is beautifully tree lined and kept in mint comdition. utterely recommended for anyone

There is no denying that Arlesford is a great location, but the course isn't that exciting. Holes 8 and 13 offer some interesting tests, hole 8 with a sweeping left fairway and bunkers littering the periphery of the green. But all in all nothing new is offered by this course, if you happen to find yourself down in the area then by all means have a game, but I wouldn't consider travelling there especially.

I agree with the view that Alresford is a very beautiful course. The course is set in the most wonderful location surrounded by woodland and rolling countryside.

Can't say I agree with the previous comment. When I played at Alresford I thought it was rather average, the the fairways were in good condition but I thought the greens could have been a bit more challenging. Other than that not too bad.

I think that Alresford golf course is the best course in Hampshire at the moment. Well that is going on the fact that the greens are in amazing condition (shame I doesn't help my golf though) and the course is playing its true length and the summer fairways are running like a dream, well better get back to practising now!!
