We played Ashton on a sunny October afternoon. The course was beautiful, all leaves had been raked by the groundsmen, who worked discreetly in the backgound. The greens were running superbly. The back nine (the old course) was as picturesque as many of our "so called" classic English Club Courses, costing three and four times more to play. Hospitality afterwards in the sumptuously furnished lounge was second to none. The staff were attentive and helpful. The Club Officials we met were so friendly, I couldn't fault a single thing. As we sat there, watching the Members teeing off at the tenth hole directly in front of the Cluhouse, I realised that this is the type of Golf Club where relaxation is a privelige of Membership. Norman Pickerskill, the Club Captain from January 2004, is a very lucky man to be looking after this fantastic Club for twelve months.

The best course i have ever seen with superb views of the surroundings, towards Manchester. The course itself is a good challenge for amatuer golf, but isn't deprived of beauty. The course boast a bauetifully well kept back nine with age old trees lining the fairways. A few slight allterations have been made to improve the play. This club is fine example of golf clubs and very much enjoyed playing there and now seek membership there.

A very challenging parkland course, with first two holes, index 4 and 2 and 4th hole 200 yards par 3 making this a very tough start. The front nine holes have undulating fairways, with a mixture of mature and relatively new trees, with sloping quick greens. The back nine, on mature parkland has tree lined fairways, and is a test of straight driving ability.
