Aspley Guise is known as 'Woburns little cousin' and playing it you can see
why. The course itself is not really to difficult, there are some difficult
holes, and the greens are small and fast, but it is the condition of the
course that makes it such a joy to play. During the summer months are the
best time to play, as you do not get the full benefit during the winter.
The front nine is some 20 years the junior of the two loops, and is set in an
old clay pit, and as such in winter holes 5,6,7 are usually closed off. There
are some testing holes, particularly the 520 yard par 5 8th which rises
steeply upon approach to the green, which is two tiered, followed by a thin
420 yard par 4. However, although the front 9 are nice, and probably harder -
there is no doubt the back 9 is the nicer set. The par 3 10th, 170 yards is
the courses signature hole, infront of the club house and requires a carry of
some 100 yards over a mass of shrubs to a well protected green. Depending on
the wind you can use anything from a 6-iron to a 3-wood. There are number of
beautiful tees, which are elevated high above the fairway - or the green.
there are far more established trees, although the fairways are generally
    more generous.
The greens are some of the quickest in the county, although with relativly
few breaks. The fairways are always cut immaculatly and although the rough
isnt too testing, going into it could find your line to the green cut off by
    a huge tree.
I have played all the courses in Milton Keynes, and nearby, and have the
advantage here of paying £141 for membership (junior) and then unlimited golf
    - with unspoilt, unhacked and simply a gorgeous course.
You can only play this with a member, and it will cost £17.50 weekends and
£12 weekday - we recommend you hijack a member to let you in because it is
    well worth it!
