I drew up the first layout of Badgemore Park in 1970. My sister and her husband owned the estate at that time, and developed the course. The original Orangery became their home after much renovation, and was known as The Bothy. I Have spent many lovely holidays looking out of the windows of the Bothy onto the beautiful fairways and greens.A lovely setting and club, indeed!

This must be one of the best kept secrets in terms of good quality golf in the Reading area. The course is in fantastic condition, and as a 22 hadicapper find the staff friendly, course extremely well maintained (never get a poor lie) and interesting. It is also usually really quiet, so if you want excellent quality golf at a reasonable price I would highly recommend this.

As a member I have quite a high handicap 30, I have played on quite a few courses around the area and found this one the best it is in nice surroundings the staff are friendly and I enjoy playing there. It is a well-maintained course and can be very pleasant in the summer the only problem is the course is very badly laid out. The front nine are very hard and the back nine are far far easier I would agree with my father that they have to rethink the layout to improve it.

The clubhouse has just been renovated and is now very comfortable. Facilities are top notch but above all the staff and secretary are very friendly which makes for a relaxing atmosphere all round. Go for a hot lunch and play in the afternoon. It makes for a lovely half day out of the office.

I played the course and liked it so much I've joined !!
The course is a test of good and not so good players alike. A low handicapper can find this a testing course with many shots needing thought. High handicappers will welcome the 'bail out' areas. Anyone hitting below par has had a good round (net or Gross). The par 3s are all testing with no easy holes. The Par 4's tend to be quite long, the course only suffers from the fact that there is only one par 5 and this leads to the overall par of 69. A par 5 on the way home would mean an overall par 70 and a challenging course all round.
The course is in very good condition and has only been closed once or twice during the bad winter we've had this year. A tribute to the green staff, and bar and grounds personnel.
Please come and play the course, it's well worth while. The club is friendly and the facilities very good, hot, 1st class food is always available.
