Course Details

Course Name: Ballininamona Holes: 18 Yardage: 6200 SSS:
The course has a number of spectacular shots. There are 5 par fives, the most spectacular being number 10 which is a dogleg over water hazard. This is a Liam Higgins special and will test any golfer's skill. Number 8 is also a very challenging hole, flanked by two lakes, one at the left and the other on the right hand side and are both connected by water trap at the front of the green. If you overshoot, the ball rolls down the steep incline into another water hazard.

Number 12 is a two tier and a very difficult par 3. Water comes into play in the 3rd, 4th 11th, 16th, 17th, because of the sandy sub-structure of the course, the back ten are many times compared to link shots as there are many attractive mounds and undulations.

  • An Absolute Disgrace

A disgrace to golf and in particular to Cork-terribly kept....telephoned in advacne and was assured the course was in perfect condition in the middle of july. Travelled 40 miles to get there only to find that the greens had not been cut in months and the grass on them was the size of the rough. Would highly recommend taking this course off the list as the description is misleading and will disappoint

During a visit to my ancestral homeland, I had the good fortune to discover a well kept secret. The tranquillity and sheer natural beauty surrounding Balinamona Golf course helped to make it not only a challenging, but a highly satisfying golfing experience. When next I get a chance to visit the Emerald Isle again, Balinamona will surely feature high on my agenda.

Ballinamona GC represents everything thats great about golf in Ireland and is definitely up there with the best courses in Cork. I have played the course multiple times, with players from the States and Europe, of all levels and have found it able to cater for the scratch golfers as well as the relative beginners. The views and surrounding countryside have never failed to impress clients and friends.

Not up to standard as Cork golf clubs go,I found no evidence of the millions of tonnes of sand as described.Layout was poor, probably would serve better as a nine hole.On the plus side, it may serve as a good starter course for people taking up the sport.18 H'cap and below would be better off giving this one a miss!
