Any extremely deceptive course, compact and well designed into the natural landscape.
Whilst it is only a nine hole course it is not as easy as many would think on initial inspection. No bunkers or major water hazards but plenty of natural outcrops of gorse sitting well placed to gather up wayward drives. Not many options for single handicap golfers to steal back shots on the longer 3rd and 4th holes, but played as the course designer intended there is no reason to try and be greedy if you want to settle for a par.
Two very straightforward par 3s for the 5th and 8th Holes, and very nice dogleg into a well-protected green on the 6th.
This is the kind of course that will lull you into a false sense of security, take any shot for granted and you will quickly see it's teeth, the fact that the club has never boasted a scratch handicap member tells you something about how challenging it can be... It is well worth a visit. The members are extremely friendly and because it is a small club it has a warm and welcoming family atmosphere.
