I play this couse quite alot because it is cheap, but it does not play cheap the greens are in fantastic condition and are well maintained it is now under new management and the couse is looking 100 times better even though the putting greens are small it is a pleasure to play.

I played here about 1 week ago and I must say it has been the worst golf course I have ever had the experience of playing. The bunkers were like stone andIi could not tell the difference between the rough and the greens. Mowls had been making a mess of the fairways and I could bairly see the grass

Although I agree that it is not the best course in Essex, there is no way anybody can run down the condition of the greens. Obviously playing 4 days before Christmas you would expect to play on temps [doh] come back in spring or summer to experience some of the best greens
On a public course in Essex

This is a reply to a review of Belhus Park Golf Course in December 1998.
Reply from Peter Montague, Head Green Keeper to a review submitted by David Foxall on 21/12/98
This winter we have experienced particularly wet weather, which together with mild temperatures has led to prolonged grass growth. Due to the wet conditions it was difficult to take machinery on to the course for necessary maintenance, such as grass cutting and spraying to deter moles. Also, the heavy rain had the effect of 'packing down' the sand in the bunkers and the continual rain destroyed all our efforts to rake them.
Belhus Park Golf Course was one of the few courses, if not the only course in the area to remain open during the bad weather. The many golfers who played the course at that time were impressed with the condition of the course given the difficult conditions. Hopefully Mr Foxall will give the course another chance when the weather has improved and we can continue to maintain the course to its usual high standard.
