A quite brilliant 18 hole course full of testing and enjoying holes. The 1st is a shortish par 4 with danger on the right in the form of a pond. The 2nd is a par 3 playing over a dirty 'river'. The third is the first real testing hole, measuring 356 yards off the yellow tees. It runs along a railway line and can be quite distracting. the fourth is again quite testing, measuring 341 yards.
The fifth is the first par 5 on the course, quite easy to a long hitter measuring only 481 yards, can be reached in two. The sixth is the second easiest hole on the course, only 290 yards. The 7th is a very frustrating hole, it used to be a parfive but has been shortened to a 450 yard par 4. If you are having a good round this hole will surely test you. The 8th is the hardest hole on the course. The tee shot is quite daunting, having to face the pond that is on the 1st and there are trees to the left. The 9th is a nice par 3 to finish your front nine, at 170 yards it is very enjoyable.
The 10th is not a very nice hole to start your back nine with, measuring 420 yards. the 11th has a tough tee shot, with out of bounds on the right and heavy rough on the left. The 12th is a nice short par 3. The 13th is a 400 yard par 4 reached into with two fairly good shots. The 14th is the easiest hole on the course, only 300 yards easily reachable in two. The 15th is the second and final par 5 at Bidston it is 496 yards and a bit tougher than the last par 5. The 16th has a daunting tee shot off the white and yellow tees, because you have to fly the ball over the river again and there is heavy rough at the left of the green.
If you have had a particularly bad round then the 17th and 18th will cheer you up as they are both quite easy. The 17th only 316 yards and the 18th, only 279. If you ever get the chance then play this course for only as little as 12.

The Mackenzie brothers designed most of this challenging course. Covering a spectacular stretch of woodfringed moorland, long undulating holes with heather and pines for company. Along with Cypress Point (parkland, woodland, oceanscape ) St Ives has three distinct characteristics. Parkland, Woodland and Moorland in equal parts.
A rewarding challenge with great scenery. St Ives Estate out of Bingley on Halifax/ Harden Road. Turn into Estate and follow Historic Tree Lined Drive past Mansion to Golf Club. Home also to the World renowned Sports Turf Research Institute. Both Founded in the late 1920's. Course record held by Faldo. PGA Laurence Batley tournament held here during mid 1980's. World Class Golf at affordable price.
