You must have been having a bad hair day Mike.Although the course is exposed it means the wind makes the course play different depending on which way the wind is blowing. This in turn makes sure it is not boring to play time and time a gain. Believe me if you get in the rough you will be sorry.

the course is ok in places but is very basic.big drives need to be hit to reach some the par 4 in two.if your a little waward of the tee it is ok as there is always 3 fairways to aim for.

James Tong, playing off a handicap of 6, was slaughtered by the Brereton-Wrigley axis for a second humiliating time. Proud Evertonian Tong was certainly left feeling blue when Brereton, playing sublime golf, secured dormie 3 with a ice-cool showing on the 15th, then holed from 3 feet on 16 to record a famous 4 and 2 drubbing. Earlier, Tong was 2 down after 2, but faught back in dogged fashion to go 1 up after 6. Holes were exchanged before the turn, where Tong was eventually reeled in and found himself level. Brereton then turned it on and proceeded to tear apart the back 9, starting with an heroic birdie on the daunting par-5 10th in a snarling wind. Spurred on by this feat, the Brereton-Wrigley partnership never looked back and Tong struggled to stay in touch. Observers doubted whether Tong had the mental strength to come back against such a force, and indeed this was the case. His (self) expected charge never
materialised despite a brief flurry at the par-3 12th, as 13 was conceded to the magic of an inspired Brereton.
A reeling Tong was unavailable for comment.

Played North Shore in February 2001 for the first time stopping in the hotel which was superb, course was in beautiful condition and was a real challenge. Ended up in a trouble in some large bunkers. The 5th hole was a real nightmare and went for a walk on the beach to retrieve my ball once. Some real good holes and plenty to test you, nice variation in holes too.
Went with 3 other friend golfers and they thoroughly enjoyed it too......although the bar stays open too late!!

Played with Glynn James and Ron Critchley (Silver Club Competition, Stableford) on Saturday 12th June 99. Course was in good condition, Ron went home after 9 holes.I didn' t get many points, but I did managed to win a £1 off Glynn James.' I am sure he will get over it.

Played matchplay with Patrick Wrigley and James Tong in April (1999). Tong was ahead after 14, and was heard to comment that he had it 'in the bag' whilst teeing off on 16, the long par 5. Wrigley and myself then proceeded to destroy Tong over the closing holes to take victory. Since then I have had numerous battles with Tong on the course (and on the snooker tables in >the clubhouse), and Tong has exacted revenge on a few occasions, most memorably with 1 shot victory after 36 holes in thick fog during January 2000.
Great links course, which is difficult to tame in anything but perfect conditions. Unforgiving rough during the summer makes North Shore a real score-wrecker.
It has the added bonus of having comedian and compere Lennie Bennett as a member who can be seen there most days during the week.
