I love this course and I cant believe that I am the first person to post on this great course. Its a very mature pay and play course originally owned by Bournemouth Borough council. The course is still open to public and dog walkers as well as Golfers. Its a well maintained course with very varied scenery, long wide fairways contrasting with narrow hilly ones where it's easy to come unstuck. The first sets the scene, a high tee long par 3 looking across a valley with the green reachable only by a strong accurate hitter (200+), else try the trees on either side! Nothing is easy but it is all pleasant to the eye.The greens are very good most of the year but a tendency to revert to mats and some temporary greens in winter. Wild life abounds, recently we were entertained by a fox arriving on the apron of the 8th while we were putting out.It wandered off disgusted when we all bogeyed in surprise. Try it for yourself its worth the walk and you'll be satisfied with the challenge.

Just read your plight and thought i,d reply.
Canford Magna has 2 18 hole courses and prices are about £20 during the week.
Bulberry Woods is also a nice course and again prices aroun d the £20 mark with a discount for playing after 3:0,clock.As astudent he made find that most useful.
Also a website called todays golfer has a lot of course info.
Hope that may be useful.

My son is travelling to Dorset in early September (hoping to golf quite a bit). As he is a graduating student and funds will be scarce I am trying to find some prices for rounds. Do you have any prices for this golf course and any others around Dorset? Thanks for any help.

The first is a challenge to anyone and sets the scene for a challenging enjoyable round of golf.
Long 14th, par 5 equal to any I have played.

Meyrick Park is a nice little course, plenty of variation between holes, though no water for the swimmers amongst you! Greens improve every year at present and the new Clubhouse private health club's involvement seems to have added to the upkeep of the grounds. Very small pro shop, but enough balls and tees etc to get you through. Better option than nearby Queens Park, though similar problems with four legged friends running across the course mid shot - at least the dogs watch the ball with a view to brining it back, sadly the owners are somewhat less observant or considerate. Well worth a round, though new prices have crept up a bit.
