I defy any golfer of any ability to come to Bridport golf course for the first time and play to his or her handicap
This course is a challenge and with its position on the cliff it makes some of the holes extremely hard for example a 405 yard hole the fifth in to the wind and uphill (only a slight gradient which means a good drive followed by a good three wood then a good wedge easy I think not.

This somewhat exposed course is routed atop two cliffs hard by the sea. Thus it's hard to beat the scenery! The course itself is somewhat basic, but just because it's simple doesn't mean that it lacks strategic interest. And I can well imagine that a windy day here could be a slog. The best hole is on the back nine, the 'drop hole' - the name says it all.
Members redesigned the course a few years ago to bring it up to championship length and configuration. Bridport probably won't make any top 100 lists, but it was fun and unpretentious.
