The golf course in Bude imposes itself upon the whole town. Simultaneously daunting and impressive, the course is situated in the heart of Bude itself. Bude's charm lies in the unspoilt nature of the environment, and the golf course is a promise against further development of this special hideaway on the North Cornwall coast.
The course itself is quite challenging. Great views on offer, but you'll also need good eyesight to find your ball. When I played the course there were several times when the whole group felt certain of the location of the ball, but on approaching the site no white object was to be found, (and we're talking the fairway here of just to the side). This isn't to say we didn't hit the ball in the rough. We did, but didn't hardly bother looking for those ones.
Once you've finished your round I suggest heading down to the Crooklet's pub down by Crooklet's beach. There is an outside area at the front of the pub from where you can watch other players tackle the breeze on the adjacent Par 3.

I'm actually a member here and have been for 6 years now. I just completed my time in the Junior Section. I think the Club has one of the best junior sections in the country in terms of what the juniors are allowed to do. We are allowed to play the course during members times and we can even book a time if the course is not too busy. We are also allowed to go into the Clubhouse after a competition. For any junior looking at this try to visit this course.
All I can say about the course is that it's very difficult when the wind gets up. Seeing as it's a seaside links course with undulating fairways and greens it gets very difficult when driving, hitting approach shots and putting.
The course is only just over 6,000 yards of the back tees but plays in full distance even on a calm day. When the wind gets up he plays even longer. There is a good selection of holes including a superb long par-3 (203 yards). It's described by the Club Pro. John Yeo as the best he's ever played! The fairways are narrow, the rough is tough in places and you will never get a easy putt from 10 feet away.
If you want to play a British Open type course then this is the one to play. I bet the American's would love to try this one out, so come along you will be made most welcome in the Clubhouse - which includes a bar, pool room and restaurant.
Make the next course you visit Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club and you make the best choice of your golfing life!!!
