only goes to show how hard the greenstaff work.
Without doubt the best hole on the course is the 18th and if it were not the last hole on the course then it would also be ranked the hardest!! if you are in a medal round and you are stood on the 18th tee 4 under your handicap then there is no guarantee that you will be under your handicap once that you have finished the hole!
out of the 365 days in a year you generally have the wind blowing for about 364 of them at this course!! This adds to the difficulty of the course.

Burnham and Berrow is my favourite links [ I have played 5 ] although I played here on very hot,calm day in late july, I believe that I would have hated the links had it been on windy day! The holes often consist of dune lined fairways which flow up to the greens that are often on natural plateau, surrounded by deep pot bunkers. The greens are among the fastest I have had the pleasure of putting on [ the fastest being the Belfry,s superb putting surfaces ]. The best holes include the third,eighth,ninth and the eighteenth. The third hole features a drive over an elevated ridge followed by a blind second shot to green set in a dell, the eighth hole is one of Burnham's renowned 'marsh' holes, the drive is over some small slopes followed by a very long second
to an elevated green. The ninth hole is a par three where the green is set amongst the dunes and surrounded by deep, deep pot bunkers [ I took 4 to get out of one! ], The finale is a longish sweeping dogleg, with the green being surrounded by 4 bunkers.
The clubhouse at Burnham is a very pleasant, luxurious and friendly, being a junior I have faced some rude treatment but at Burnham they seemed very pleased to see juniors playing on the links.

Burnham and Berrow GC is a simply a gem overlooking the Bristol Channel in Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset. A magnificent course with excellent facilities and a warm welcoming clubhouse, Secretary and members alike.
The 'Dormie-House' is excellent value for money and well equipped for a golfing party, but book early as it is always in high demand. Burnham's greens, tees and fairways are in superb order, even when I played it in February of this year!
The course is very demanding and will challenge the best golfers, particularly in the outward half where the wind is always a factor on this superb links. Par 4's are only reached by long tee shots and long irons and woods on occasion. Excellent views over the Bristol Channel add to the panorama and interest. Meals are great in the clubhouse.
Altogether a great experience. Add it to your 'must play list'.
