Bury St Edmunds Golf Club is a good parkland course. Much work has recently been carried out including planting semi mature trees and providing new bunkers. The fairways are good and the recently installed fairway watering scheme should ensure their consistency through the summers.
The professional, Mark Jillings, is an excellent professional and if your game is suffering he will put you back on the right track. The practice facilities are average with a putting green, practise hole and a general practice area. The club also includes a nine hole course which is best described as a field with flags in it!! This nine hole course is open to pay and play and is probably ideal for beginners. The bar and restaurant are good and you are made to feel welcome so long as you are reasonably well attired. If you are planning a golf holiday in Suffolk I would thoroughly recommend this course and I suggest that you telephone the professional to ensure the course is available to non members on your chosen day.
