Carrickfergus G.C. is located in the midst of a well developed area. The Club House and facilities for golfers are extremely good. There is even a balcony where golfers can (on a nice day) sit outside, enjoy a meal and an unrivalled view of the course.
The course is parkland, and kept in excellent condition. The holes although closely fitted together are certainly challenging. I believe that accuracy is only way to succeed on this course where the fairways are tight and guarded by rows of trees. The most memorable feature was an extremely interesting approach shot on the 6th hole (a long shot which if successful drops 30ft and onto a sunken green). On the downside I would like to see more features and variation.
