Brandon is a cracking course by muni standards. Its length is a challenge in itself and its well-established trees and rough make it a great round for golfers of all standards. Its fairways are wide but that can give you a false sense of security on the tees with a driver in your hands. The price is good too, and it can be difficult to get on in summer or at most weekends. However the course can suffer the price of being a popular muni, with inexperienced golfers (as we all are to an extent) not repairing pitch marks and divots etc. If I HAD to pick a favourite hole Id probably go for the bomb hole (par 3 over a WW2 bomb crater) The clubhouse is ok but there's a nice pub down the road (Brandon Oak) and you'll always find golfers there after a round having a pint. I'm from Coventry but live and work abroad and I would give anything to be teeing it up there right now.

Well, well, well. What can I say about Brandon golf course? It is in my view the best public golf course I have ever played on and has the potential to become one of the best in the midlands. There are various birdie opportunities throughout the course whether it is from the long par 5's or the compact and sometimes cosy par 3's. The course accommodates for all golfers; young to old, good to bad. It clearly beats its local rivals of Ansty Golf Course and Whitefields Golf Course.

I found your course to be both challenging and enthralling! I am only a junior and I can still see the massive potential for the course. It is my local course and I am proud to say that it is. I also find the pro's helpful and informative.
However I find that many player who I might add assume I am a poor golfer, it is not the case. Occasionally young adults are subject to irate players, angry as I am at slow players. I wait until the fairway is 'open' as it were and strike, I do not waste time. People ort not to stereotype.
On the other hand the rates are very competitive, I would advise you, if I may be so bold to offer week long passes, especially useful during the holidays.
Holes four and eighteen are the pride of your course and in general it is very well kept. The course is versatile enough to improve all aspects of my game, long drives to neat chips.
Also I would like to add that you should open your hot food facilities longer, after 3pm.

Regardless of your golfing ability, Brandon is a long and challenging golf course. The first hole being a short par 5 caused me a few headaches, and seemed to set the tone for the remainder of the round. For the longer hitters amongst us all the par 5's are reachable in two (with the 13th dependant upon the wind direction). I particularly found the 8,9 and 10 (all par 4's and all dog legs) demanding. Overall being a municipal course it is of a high standard, with the greens and fairway being in good condition, and the staff being very friendly. However, the main criticism of the course is
that as it is open to the public you could be stuck behind hackers!

in reply to your referance in regard to having to wait for some (hackers) i would sugest if you are that good at golf you should stick to the private members type clubs.Bear in mind that this is a oppertunity for all of coventrys folk to have a try at golf. (but then again would a private members club think you are good enough for them you may turn into THE HACKER)

A mature, well laid out course featuring some challenging holes. The length adds to the difficulty with some of the par 4's out of reach for the average player in two shots. However the wide fairways and relatively few bunkers make the course playable for the high handicapper. The design and layout are excellent, and the mature trees and river running through the course add to the experience, although as it is a municipal the tees and greens could be in better condition at times.
