average - first 9 are ok yet during the 2nd 9 there is little to pleasure about. poor land and little imagination put into the back nine of the course.

14th c. 350 yards par 4 - as described above. Look out for the duck pond hidden in the clump of trees to the right of the green.
16th c. 380 yards, par 4 - steeply uphill and definitely not the hole you want at the end of the round. Hard to reach in two for most players and if it's windy the green is exposed and you can find your ball wobbling about quite a bit on puts!.
The course runs to about 6,500 (6,200 off the yellows) yards from the medal tees so it is by no means short!
The professional Roger Holland is friendly and a very good player.
The clubhouse is comfortable. Overall I enjoy my golf at City of Wakefield and recommend all players in the area to give it a try, especially on one of the invitation days when the course is at it's best.

This course succeeds on a large scale. This is because it gives people who might not otherwise be able to play a chance to participate at a very reasonable price. No handicap certificate is required and I am not aware of a dress rule (trainers are OK). Here, this is a good thing because people come and play who would never be allowed at a private club.
As for the course, it is nothing special, but that isn't the point here. The condition is excellent for a municipal and I regularly enjoy a game here with my part-time golfing friends. Personally I don't find it a challenge as it is rather short and there isn't a premium on accuracy, a 'grip it and rip it' policy can be adhered to here. To say the course is not challenging would be doing it a big injustice though, because the masses find it highly enjoyable and a fine test of their ability. I don't want to sound pompous whilst writing this but it would have been easy to criticise the course and that would be doing the Wakefield Metropolitan District Council a disservice.
Hole 14 is the best on the course, it requires a drive down the left to open up the green which is set amongst the trees. Every other hole is neither really bad nor really good, the worst is the par three 3rd which is steeply uphill to a blind green which falls away to the left. That apart every hole has its difficulties and charms and therefore works well.
Excellent value for money. 49%

I am a member of Lupset (City of Wakefield) Golf Club, just a social one as i do not get the time to play to get my moneys worth. Of all the ones within 20 miles of me in Huddersfield that offer a Social Membership, Lupset is by far the best course.
As municipals go this is a true test. A mature, well kept parkland course with some very challenging pars from a 575 yard par 5 to an uphill 170 yard par 3 surrounded by bunkers. It only costs are reasonable for to play and think they must raise it - but tell them !
