Course Details

Course Name: Clontarf Holes: 18 Yardage: 5959 SSS: 68
The course is a pleasant, yet challenging, 18 hole parkland course with superbly manicured rolling fairways and a liberal sprinkling of fine old trees, and is virtually an oasis on the doorstep of a teeming metropolis. Our speedy greens have attained a standard of excellence and discerning visitors regularly tell us that they are amongst the best to be found around the country.

Although a relatively short course, its narrow fairways and punitive rough calls for accuracy off the tee and will test the players' golfing skill. Each hole presents its own challenge which can catch the unwitting golfer off-guard. Shot-making skills must be complimented with accurate club selection in order to post a good score.

The smoothness of pace and the maintenance of balance is what can help a player to attain lasting consistency with their swing. There are some mistakes that should be avoided by a golfer if he wants to perfect his art. One of them is rushing the swing, which leads to inconsistent contact as well as poor ball flight. Those who are extraordinary in the sport of golf do not lose their balance with a few exceptions, of course.

There is an ineluctable link between rhythm and balance. There are players like Tom Watson who have much quicker tempos. On the other hand, one sees players like Ernie Els who play with a slower tempo. Whatever the case, there is equilibrium between their tempo and rhythm, which ensures a perfect golf swing.

The bunkers were upgraded to a very high standard. The course is on a tight site but is a good test all the same. Well worth a visit.

I think Clontarf is a very good golf course. I am applying for membership and I hope I get in. I play off 18.I play every weekend with my friends. I have had a hole in one on the short 6th hole and I hope to get a lot more.

Clontarf Golf Club is a marvelous course . Like Clontarf itself, it has everything, water, sand, grass and even a huge valley a.k.a the 12th. The 12th has ruined many fine rounds for many fine players. I myself lost the annual True Champion award with
    a 10 on the 12th.

Its a fantastic course. It's 12th hole would even be a test for Tiger Woods.

I played this course with my twin brother Jim last year (97). Nice little course. It has a nice finishing hole a par 5, which I birdied, while my cousin Joe Coggins watch. It also has some holes that favors members. All in all a nice set up. If anyone knows a member Eileen Coggins, and her brother Joe tell them, Her cousin Pete sends his best regards.
