I am a Founder Member of College pines golf Club. Big improvements have been made since 1993. A good testing course with long par 4's and 5's which will test all Golfers. Keep on the fairways or trouble lies in thick rough. Good practice area with driving range and bunker practice area.

We played this course at the back end of October at short notice after our booking at another local course (Kilton Forest) was mysteriously deleted and replaced by a lucrative visiting party....funny that. Nevertheless our enjoyment that day was not spoilt as the pro at College Pines found us a start time and made us welcome. Being a member at a seaside links I am always a bit wary of playing an inland course at this time of year (mud glorious mud !) however this course was well drained and not overly wet. The length of holes provide a variety of challenges 5 par 5's and 4 par 3's and
I particularly liked the imaginative bunkering (fairway and greenside) and grass hollow run off area's protecting some greens. The course should interest both the dedicated golfer and novice, I played with two relatives who play very infrequently and between us we only lost one ball. Overall an enjoyable afternoon's golf.

Played the course on an outing yesterday (29/9), thoroughly enjoyed the day as the hospitality was excellent including a bacon/sausage breadcake and cup of tea in the morning and a fantastic steak, chips, carrots and peas meal after the round. The golf course is an excellent layout with each hole having its own character and having five par 5's and four par 3's there's a great variety. The opening hole is a nice starter being a downhill slight dogleg par 5 and I think the course has a great finish of three very birdie-able par 5's in the last five holes. On the downside the fairways, rough and bunkers were very soft and muddy but we have had lots of rain this week and the greens were very bumpy and inconsistent. Otherwise, a fantastic day was had by all and we may return next year!

College Pines Golf Club is a demanding course that will catch you out just when you think that you have got it beat. It has some long challenging par 4's, along with some very long par 5's, mixed with a few short par 3's, depending where the wind blows from that day. I have been a member here for a year and a half and this year the course has looked and played its best so far this year in the words of some of the people that I play with.
The club has a driving range, practise putting green, pitching green and a licensed bar with food also available.
The pro shop has a good selection of golfing equipment etc. Give it a try.
