Colne Valley Golf Club is situated on the Essex/Suffolk border in an area of real natural beauty, there is no better venue, to escape from the rigours of modern life.
Constructed in 1989 and opened in 1991, this surprisingly mature parkland course belies its tender years, uncommon in a course so relatively new.
Natural water hazards, and well-defined bunkers, along with U.S.G.A. standard greens offer year round playability, and a stimulating test for golfers of all abilities.

To compliment the course there is a large well appointed clubhouse with excellent restaurant and bar facilities. Whether you are a member, visitor or participating in a society or company day you are assured of a warm welcome and a memorable visit.

The course is now 10 years old (October 2001) but it looks more established. It's in a magnificent part of Essex with some splendid views over the Colne River valley. That's also a problem because some of the holes are close to the river and liable to flooding - as it was when I played there after a period of heavy rain. The 14th fairway was saturated and may be unplayable at some times. It's a hilly course but the greens were in excellent condition. On most holes, the fairways are generous but the rough is tight and unyielding. The modern clubhouse is well appointed and spacious. Sit on the terrace with drinks and watch your colleagues putting on the 18th. Yes, it's worth a visit.
