| The course is fairly flat heather and forest course first laid out in 1892 with additions by James Braid in 1930 and Bill Cox in 1975. Copthorne is a par 71 course, tightly tree lined and about 6550 yards off the blocks, it is a real challenge for all types of golfers, A fairly easy course on the legs being quite flat, it is well sheltered from the wind. This is more of a target golf course, than anything else. If you come from an open windy course, you'll find an iron off the tee will seem the sensible thing to do.
It has recently had all the bunkers re-shaped, which has enhanced the look of the course, a lot of drainage work done which I'm sure will be on going as Copthorne has been known to suffer the wet weather. Historically it has been a course to avoid during winter months but this is changing. The greens are normally great April - Sept but the time is widening year on year.
The Bar is somewhere my friends and I have spent many an afternoon, and you will find all the staff very friendly, so if you're having a day at Copthorne LEAVE the car at home.
Onto Food Copthorne has recently taken on a franchise with a Family who own/run a number of restaurants around the area called Lafarola, and the food is excellent, you can't fail to have a good day.
