James Braid designed course which skilfully exploits the wide variety of natural and typically Scottish features to produce as enjoyable a test of golf as you'll find anywhere.

Driving off from the first tee beside the Clubhouse, there is a gradual incline to the green where you can enjoy a magnificent view down the Firth of Clyde to the Isles of Bute & Arran, and, 55 miles distant, the gannet Ailsa Craig rising out of the sea off the Ayrshire coast at Turnberry. At the third hole you'll negotiate the wee burn. The fifth is an excellent 191 yard par 3. Then round the corner to the 6th and 7th where panoramic views over the Firth to the east and the Cowal hills to the west and north unfold. From the 12th you are led gently to the more level but none the less most testing part of the course with burns crossing the 13th and 15th fairways. On course facilities to sharpen up your play include a chipping and bunkered green and practice area.

    I enjoyed my day there and am pleased to share the experience with other like minded golfers. What a great value day out. This club provides a great value package, including ferry crossing, all meals and 2 rounds of golf. I played this course in September 1997. It is quite hilly in places but this is definitely turned to it's advantage because of the spectacular scenery opened up by the height achieved. From the highest point, it is possible to see all the way from Erskine to Arran. It is a fairly challenging course and was in very good condition when I played it. It has some spectacular holes. I would definitely recommend a day out here.
