I've been a member at the Heath for over 10 years and can recommend the course as an excellent test of golf. As its name implies this is a heathland course set high above Huddersfield. Its highest point is over 900ft above sea level. The views from most parts of the course are spectacular - on a clear day you can see 30+ miles to the east from the 2nd tee.
The course is quite open for the most part, which allows the wind to blow your cobwebs away - especially on the 5th hole, a 456 yard par 4 gently rising all the way directly into the prevailing wind! Part of the course is built on the site of an old quarry and this makes for some very interesting par 3's, particularly the 2nd, 9th and 17th.
The course is beautifully maintained by the greens staff, and the clubhouse and steward are welcoming (I can recommend the all day breakfast).
You'll enjoy a visit to Crosland Heath, but whatever you do - keep out of that heather!
    Best regards,
