I have been a member at the Beacon Golf club for about a year and a half now. I am 15 years old and have a handicap of 11 and I am also in the Junior Team. I can safely say that Crowborough is not the easiest of courses at best of times and sometimes can be unfair. If you think that you are on for a good score around Crowborough you can't afford to ease up for the slightest moment. The 18th hole is probably the hardest hole that I have played in the area, with a 440yard uphill dogleg to the left with the course's only fairway bunker sits in the middle of the fairway about 400yards out.
The proshop at Crowborough is excellent providing all the golf gear that you could possibly want. And the pro here Mr.Dennis Newnham is very welcoming and helping.
There is catering up in the bar when you come back from a hard days golf, and are in desperate need of replenishing. The clubhouse is about 70 years old when it was redun in the 30's, and has a panoramic view over the south downs. If you want to come and play this course then you should definitely phone up in advance to check to see whether there is a competition on when you want to play. But at Crowborough there is no tee time bookings so you can usually get a game quite easily. The green fees are £16.50 at the weekend and it varies during the week.
This is definitely a course worth playing if you are in the area, and you want a challenging test of your golf game.

I have been a member here since I was 12 years old and I still keep coming back for more. It's the sort of course that I don't think you can ever relax on, especially when the wind is up.
The 2nd has been voted the finest 2nd hole in England outisde champ. golf courses. The par 3 6th is one of Peter Alliss's favourite golf holes. The 18th is without doubt the toughest hole on the course and provides a demanding finish to your round.
Green fees are reasonably priced and as stated, the bar with it's balcony provides a nice end to the day, relaxing with views towards the South Downs.
