We played here a couple of times this summer after not having played here for a few years, and were delighted with the quality of the course. They have recently brought the greens and bunkers to PGA standard, and you can tell! You can stop a 4 iron dead on the greens, and it is like putting on glass, although the greens are as true as they can be. It is not a particularly difficult course, although there are a few testers. The par 5 third is reachable in two if you're brave enough to go for it over the water, and the 436 yard par 4 ninth is a tester with bunkers surrounding the green. The twelfth hole is probably one of the nicest in Hampshire with views over Southampton water from the elevated tee, and at 307 yards is driveable on a hot dry day giving a rare eagle opportunity. The final hole is just 301 yards again from an elevated tee, and the big hitters may chance a shot at clearing the trees. There is no room for error as the fairway is not more than 50 yards wide with ditches and woods awaiting any errant tee shots. All in all, a quality public golf course with excellent greens, fairways and bunkers, and at £16 for the day, you would be mad not to give it a go.

A very reasonable course when you consider the cost of greenfees. Great view over Southampton Water to the City. The course suffers somewhat over the winter months with a few poor temporary greens used. A nice clubhouse that serves good food has a super view. Overall an enjoyable, affordable course in a great location.
