Not the longest course, but does offer plenty of risk/reward options. When we played it in early May the greens could have done with another cut, but the course was in good nick, and surprisingly dry. The pace of play was excellent too, so compliments to the rangers.
Finally, the welcome and hospitality from all the staff was excellent, as were the facilities.

Played it once last winter when it rained almost non-stop. Course was surprisingly playable, although several very wet areas of course. There was a bit of a gale blowing but when it eased, so the rain poured once more.
Important thing is that the greens played OK and most of us still managed to play to handicap.

I have played the Lakeland only once but it really is a test of golf. Next shot not always apparent where to aim, I have a hip problem and have to admit it was a bit long for me. For a keen golfer though it has got to rank right up there with the best of them.

The best of them? Meaning the best of the golf courses in East Dorset? Because the course is flat, predictable and boring. Oh, and waterlogged and boggy on most days. Which is most days, this being England.
