  • Good value in New Ross

Played this pleasant parkland course in June 2006. Being able to book your tee-time on their web site is a great idea and more courses should do it.
The course is a real members track and I wish them a happy 100th birthday in 2007.
The course shows signs of its maturity and a level of investment (some new USGA greens?) which has been done well.
I won't describe the holes as the previous reviewer has done it for me, but I will add that this course was excellent value at 20 Euro (£15 or $20) with my sub-10 handicappers enjoying the challenge and welcome in the clubhouse.
    Recommended.

Having been on a tour I finally arrived at Enniscorthy Golf Club. I was full of anticipation as a friend had described the course as one of the finest he had played in the South East of Ireland.
I payed my reasonable green fee and was joined by two local farmers Ken Leech and Tony Ensor (an ex-international rugby player).
What followed was a highly enjoyable expeirience with Tony driving the ball huge distances and Ken putting in from all over the place.
I was put to the test but came through by taking the (small) wager.
Enniscorthy is a must for golfing visitors to Wexford and if possible try and get a game with locals like Ken and Tony who were great fun !!
    Hears to the next time.

It's seldom that in my travels I repeat playing a previously played golf club, so you can imagine my delight (and surprise) when travelling in that part of the world I coincidentally got a call from FR. Ken Leech to join him and Anto again together with Anto's Wife the beautiful Beatrice for a 'classic' in Enniscorthy. What a great game we had.Anto drove a buggy and it was like a child with a new toy but without the license!!
Farmer Ken played brillant as they say round here. He really is a great putter as he says himself.
And as for Beatrice-well-theres one golfer in every family !!!
The golf course was great and we all had many drinks after and enjoyed ourselves.
Cheers to the next time. !!!

    >Played the course as part of a society visit to Wexford and rate it as one of the finest that I've played on in 35 yrs. of golf, rivalling the likes of Wentworth and The Berkshire. Superbly kept in manicure condition with wonderful views. A good variety of holes requiring every club in the bag and a challenging walk on lush fairways both on the flat and on rolling slopes. Fine clubhouse with good food and atmosphere. Looking forward to the next visit, God willing!

It was certainly a pleasure to play 18 holes at Enniscorthy on Saturday 9th September. Five of us set off in two groups at around 10.00am and played the course for the first time. Fairly straightforward start, with two par 3's in the first three holes. There are a number of mature trees that catch anything that is slightly off-line. The fourth and fifth holes are challenging, with a very deceptive little par 3 sixth, which we all fell short of. Hole seven has a marvellous view and drops away quite sharply. However, it is much tougher coming back up the hill on the eighth and nobody managed par there. The ninth
    is a straightforward affair.
The back nine starts with two par 5's, with the 11th needing some big hits. I managed to get my second to within 30m of the green on the eleventh, since it is downhill. The twelfth is fairly easy, and then the next two holes begin the climb back up the hill and are tricky holes. I got into a real mess on No 14 off the tee. Hole 15 is certainly a tough par 4 and then we have one of the most spectacular holes on the course. The 16th is downhill and one of the party (Andy) got to within 30m of the green with his drive. A large bunker guards this green. Back up the hill to the 17th and finally a straightforward 18th with the clubhouse in sight.
Verdict: A beautiful course, with superb greens. Some testing holes and the trees can prove to be a problem. Back in the clubhouse there was a warm welcome and some good food and drink. I would thoroughly recommend this course. Diolch yn fawr am y croeso!
