Having had the pleasure of finding myself on the fairways of Erewash last
week (this in it's self a minor miracle) I felt I must drop you a line about
the course. Clearly over recent months a great deal of work has been done in
order to improve the drainage. Due the awful weather they have had to
contend with, there are in places damaged and worn areas. This however does
not detract from the course in anyway, the greens were fantastic, the
drainage work does not effect the play and it is indeed a testing challenge.
I imagine any number of their considerably high number of low handicap
members would indeed be formidable opponents. having read a Mr Wooley's
review on this site of his visit to the course 06/01 I was indeed hesitant
and having visited Maywood ( A course I felt would be better suited a the
grazing of sheep) I was expecting the worst. Really Mr Wooley should check
that he was at the right venue, I fail to see how a course could improve
from how he described it in 1 month. Maybe I am being overly kind due to
that round being the first time I have broke 90 but still folks don't be
mislead, a wonderful jewel in derbyshires otherwise bland golf offerings.

I played Erewash last week and was most disappointed in the course. The fairways were poor and the greens not much better, I hope they improve for the rest of the summer but I would of thought most of the tinkering about the greenkeepers have done could of been covered in the winter months.
The food was quite good but it played second fiddle to the course next door, Maywood which was lovely. Too many fairways run parallel with each other and it gets quite monotonous. But worth a visit if the fairways improve.
