An open, possibly described as exposed, undulating cliff-top course set within a 5-iron of the Flamborough Head lighthouse.
Played on an early summer's morning, both fairways and greens were in excellent condition in spite of the poor weather of the past months.
Spectacular views, particularly along the perimeter holes and approaching the lighthouse tower, together with the noise from the puffins nesting on the cliffs, made this a very enjoyable 'coastal' round of golf. Whilst some of the holes appear straightforward, the impact of wind on elevated shots requires careful judgement!
Friendly clubhouse and members, I look forward to improving my score next time I visit.

I have played Flamborough Head for the last six years in August and have seen it lengthened to 6,000 yards. It is always an adventure just to drive there, you feel you are escaping from an everyday busy life to another world altogether. The lighthouse, the ancient one, on the course and the 300 ft cliffs provide a stunning view on a summer morning. The course is pure links. There are a few blind shots, which some golfers don't like, but the great thing about this game is that all courses are different. The greens are very good. Try this one if you fancy a change from the usual.
