Played in a 4 ball recently. This course is the business. Fabulous value and enjoyed every yard of it. My partners felt the exact same. Already trying to book next year. Don't forget to see the stuffed owl in the bar!

Formby is about the best golf course I have ever played.
That includes Royal Birkdale (just down the road) did not play good golf but that was me not the course.

We have just returned from 3 weeks and 20 rounds of links golf in Wales, England, Ireland, and N.Ireland. Of all the clubs we played Formby was by far the best conditioned and maintained. Every green and fairway were perfectly mown, and every divot had been sanded and levelled. We played some other courses with larger reputations, but Formby was in a league of its own when it came to conditioning.
In addition to the wonderful course, we were also pleasantly surprised by the warm reception afforded us by Steve, the Club Secretary? He gave us a complete tour of the facilities and made us feel as though we were his personal guests at Formby.
This is a fun and challenging course, and one we would gladly return to over and over again.

I really enjoy golf in the UK. Formby is a very special little hidden 'gem' of a golf course. A real treat. A superb course not far at all from Southport and the better known Royal Birkdale. Its opening and closing couple holes are so-so, but from numbers 4 through 16, it is fantastic. You get a good look at the Irish Sea, but you also get some significant hilly holes in #8, 9, 10. A real gem and well kept secret.....try it, its a fine test of UK golf.
