Club with a lot of history. Big friendly clubhouse with simple and reasonably priced food. The course is fairly flat, good bunkerage, but on our visit the greens were poor. Poor = needing TLC

For many years the site of the European Tour Benson and Hedges which produced a string of great champions. I have played this course about 5 times over a ten year period and at a 13 hcp found it a real challenge. An excellent mixture of holes each with its own personality. Look for the large tree guarding a green which Langer played a key shot out of. When you visit historic York, give yourself a treat and do play this course, you will look forward to your second round.
