After being a member for the last 3 years Gainsborough Golf Club is a great complex for those who play for fun, or for those who play to compete. On this course you will certainly have to compete with the numerous bunkers that surround the greens, the long par 4's and the tricky little par 3's that are almost water bound if the correct club
selection isnt found. Being owned by 'ping' Karsten lakes is a typical American course. Wide fairways, big greens but dont be tempted to make a birdie as a bunker will no doubt be positioned where you dont want it to be. The pleasure of Karsten lakes is that even if your round isnt going the way you want you can always take in the beuty of not only karsten lakes but also Thonock park (old course) which sits alongside this impressive course. This is a highly recommended course and will certainly not be forgotten. Must be played if in the area! Price: £25.

Played both courses on a 'early season package' before the 31st of March, excellent value for money with a very friendly club house. Now this is a very different story. Best described as 'long target golf' Many of the long par 4's require very accurate tee shots, avoiding lots of water hazards, one of these holes the, 6th if I remember correctly, gives you the choice of laying up at the side of the lake or trying to drive the lake but there are trees waiting on the other side of the lake. The greens were in excellent condition, fast and difficult to read. Only two slight moans, the dark blue flags on the front 9 are very difficult to pick out against a background of trees! and some of the yardage markers do not tell the truth!
