I played Glenrothes course the other day. Was not impressed. £17 for a weekday round because it's in season . Which yes is fair but then to be playing on to winter greens and greens that are more like beaches than greens with ridiculous amounts of sand down on them was ridiculous. How can they charge this price for a course thats not atall nearly ready . It is a really nice and testing course but not a £17 weekday course . Not even close sorry

I believe that Glenrothes GC is a moderately challanging course especially for the beginners of the course. I would say that if you are a rather slow player then this is NOT the course for you, because golfers (the old ones) get rather annoyed with slow players as i found out many times.

Hmmm, a very challenging course indeed, in the sense that to shoot a decent score you have to overcome the tiny sized greens and long holes. Also make sure you stay away from the fairway bunkers, I've had a few nasty encounters with wild animals in there. And the fairway bunkers aren't the only place that host a variety of unpleasant animals, yes that burn on the 11th hole, I lost my left leg trying to retrieve a ball, and another time my kneecap fell off. Take my advice and this course will be a delight to play on.

I have been a member at Glenrothes golf course for almost 40 years, and I have to say, the course is in its prime condition. Oh yes, the course may be one of the best-kept council courses in the area. The front nine is where you can sit back and enjoy the challenge of the small greens and dogleg holes, but the back nine in where your score can be demolished. There is a tricky burn, which must be negotiated on 4 of the back nine holes. This burn can also be a dangerous place, as the wildlife can be a little over exuberant.

Glenrothes golf course is the smoothest golf course I've played at. The grass is amazing; it's the best grass ever! Nice and green, just how I like it, I'm fed up with all these new hi-tech courses with their fancy blue and red grass, I prefer the old traditional green grass. Also, the flags are amazing, they flap in the wind, ITS GREAT!!!!. There's nothing better than sitting on a Sunday afternoon watching the flags flap around. Oh, and the course is not bad too I would suggest it to any flag-flapoholics out there.

I'm presently a member at Glenrothes. It is probably one of the hardest golf courses in the area, with it's small greens and wooded areas. The large fairways make the drive very easy, but the mounds on the side of the greens make them very difficult to hit in regulation. It's a fair test for every golfer. It's not hard to make a decent score, but it's really tough to have an awesome one. The course record is only 65. I would recommend my home golf course to anyone.

I played Glenrothes in September 1998, and thought it was an excellent test of golf and the golf course itself was in tremendous condition. The undulating land of the back nine allows an incredible contrast in playing style compared to the front nine. I am sure I will visit the course again on my return to Scotland the same time this year.....an excellent golf club!

I grew up in Glenrothes and played there for many years. Although I am still a Member I am not on the committee so it is only my personal view. Well defined fairways on first nine lined with mature pine trees. Back nine crosses burn on 1,12,13,18. Back nine is hilly with burn in middle of a valley. Seniors may wish to only play front nine. Season tickets can be purchased at a reasonable price. Splendid views of the Lomond Hills and a challenging test of golf.
