I tremendously enjoyed an 18 at Elie (aka The Golf House Club). Be sure to get a member to tell you how the course came to have that name. The course was in excellent condition and you will use every club in your bag. Not a par 5 in the bunch but don't let that fool you. A piped drive and you will still be hitting a 3 wood or a driver off the deck to reach some of the par fours. There is a logjam on 7, a shortish par four followed by a three, but then it opens up again. Teeing off 8 you have a 240 degree view of the Firth of Forth and you can see North Berwick, Gullane, etc across the forth.
If you want informal golf, an amazingly friendly membership, a course in great shape (stay out of the rough) then I definately recommend you find this course (you WILL have to look for it). Not championship, but I would go back again.
