Played the course in mid-September 1998. Spectacular day with wisps of sharp wind. Tricky ups and downs and a few hidden fairway bunkers. Just like most courses in Scotland, Gullane #2 offers very tricky rough. Elevated, dry and hard greens require a well-developed pitch-and-run play 100-yards and in. Do not attempt playing this course if you are not capable of hitting low, bouncing approach-shots. Forget 'plotting' approaches. Blind shots abound but also spectacular (3 and 17th hole) views where destiny is in the golfer's hands (club).
