If ever a person needed proof of the saying 'you get what you pay for' then a visit to Hartsbourne will surely show that the proof is in the pudding. If you love golf and don't mind selling your house to come up with the money to join then your reward will be a golf course that you will come to love and cherish as though it were your own child. The club invests a lot of money in keeping the course in 'Augusta like' condition and are not shy to re-design holes if they feel that improvement is necessary. This is not an easy course and there is no room for 'first tee nerves' here. As you stand on the first tee all you see are the out of bounds markers down the left hand side, trees on the right and a great fat bunker waiting for you in the middle of the fairway....believe me, this is not a course to tackle with a hangover, as if you are not playing well your card will be ruined by the time you reach the par 3 second. This course is beautiful to play all year round and in some ways even better in winter when you can still enjoy driving off an immaculately kept tee areas, with no sight of ungainly mats of roughly cut temporary greens.
