This has to be one of the most challenging courses in yorkshire. It tests a golfers accuracy along with driving distance at times in order to carry many immovable obstructions. The greens are not ideal but still require alot of skill.

Contrary to its name Headingley Golf Club is not in Headingley but situated a few miles up the road in Adel, approximately five miles North West of Leeds City centre.
Given its location it is surprisingly secluded and private and whilst playing the course, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the depths of the English countryside. In my opinion, the course is more picturesque than its better known neighbours at Moortown, Moor Allerton and Sand Moor.
I was fortunate enough to play Headingley in early June when the weather was warm and calm and the course was arguably at its best. The greens in particular were in excellent condition. Headingley is a course that plays longer than its 6,298 yards off the back tees. It has four longish par four holes at the 2nd, 7th,12th and 15th and whilst the fairways are not too tight, nor the trees too thick, good course management is needed to score well.
Local knowledge, or in my case a helpful member is useful because position off the tees is all important to shorten the holes and give the best angles of approach to the greens. Several of the fairways are both sloping and undulating.
On weekends or for special events, the half-way house at the back of the tenth tee provides refreshment of varying strengths and a selection of snacks. Personally, I recommend the excellent bacon sandwiches to fortify you ahead of the back nine.
Headingley has four short holes all of which are interesting and challenging and constructed to place as high a premium on club selection for distance as direction. On a fine day the panoramic view from the 14th tee is splendid and the course has plenty of wildlife to blame for wayward shots !
The members are very friendly and hospitable and the well appointed clubhouse provides good facilities and excellent meals. I was even introduced to my first ultrasonic club cleaner, which is a machine, not an individual.
