i,ll tell you truth about this course, if you suffer from sleep deprivaty, try this course ! if you dont sleep after a round there you never will !absolutly scandalous course, very tiring, lots of blind shots, so a newcomer will have difficulty paring these holes, altough not bad for a muni, id certainly tell you to try somewhere else !

A fantastic municipal course, easily the best i have ever played. With it's long history and deserved respect, you feel like you are not just on a "public" course. Not very long, but the undulations make for an extremely challenging (and tiring) day. You will need to play all sorts of funny lies, and if you stray, you pay. This is a very addictive course; once you play, you want to go back again and again and again. Go! even if you are by yourself, you'll have a blast!

A very difficult and satisfying (when you get it right) game of golf. Very good value for money - much better than the average 'municipal' course. What a shame it's the only municipal course a city the size of Manchester can offer.

I play at Manchester and there aren't many courses that give me a challenge. Heaton park wasn't in the best 'nik' but it was a well layed out course with some par 5s that made u think. I play off 13. I played Heaton only level to my handicap.

Heaton Park is not for the faint hearted. You either love it or loath it. Never indifferent! Thats one of the compelling things about it.
The couse has character in bucketfuls and green for green is one of the best municipal courses you are ever likely to play. The course is owned by PLAY GOLF who have have spent alot improving facilities and course condition. I'd always had a soft spot for it, but now...!
It isn't a tremendously long course and rewards can be gained from long straight drives. However many of the shots are blind adding to the fun and there are dangers a plenty.
I have played the couse for the past 15 years but because of the nature of this undulating couse, it never fails to pose a fresh challenge. Despite being little more than a stones throw from Manchester City centre, some of the views are breathtaking. The 15th there remains one of the toughest par 4s I have ever played.
Everyone is welcome in the modern clubhouse. I have played many course in alot of countries but never have I felt as satisfied and 'golfed out' as I do after playing this gem of a course.
Go on, treat yourself.

Definitely a course to try. Surprisingly hilly with great views, considering it's so close to the city centre. Not a long course, though several holes require you to hit tee shots blind, but marker posts are reliable guides. The fairways are in pretty good shape all year round, though in dry weather their cambers can punish inaccurate tee shots. The greens look average and the grass coarse. Many also appear pan-flat - but don't be fooled because they are surprisingly subtle and challenging. They also seem to produce a consistent roll. Three holes really stand out - 11, 12 and 15 - simply because each requires you to hit your tee shot over a tree/shrub filled ravine with ponds in the bottom. Minimum carry for each is in the region of 150-180 yards. However, don't be put off by the course's formidable reputation and appearance because many of the holes are shaped to help you to coax your ball towards the green. Apart from the 12th and 15th, none of the holes are particularly long. All in all, it's more a test of accuracy and course management than length, and it's definitely not as hard as it looks - I keep going back, which says it all.

Returned to this fantastic course after 35 years. They've tamed it somewhat. No moon craters and less moor-like boggy areas. I didn't recognise some holes, which are now lined by fully-grown trees. It is very demanding, and I rate it one of the most enjoyable of the courses I've played in a lifetime of golf. Congratulations to the Ground staff and Manchester for having a super municipal course.

Come on chaps and ladies there's lots of drivable par fours and eagle opportunities on the par fives. The tees on some holes require better drainage and the greens often leave something to be desired but don't let my comments put you off this is truly spectacular in places and the par four 15th is a killer. I love this course even though my best is 92. Its weather beaten too so if you like the elements this is for you.

Good course. Many different challenges from water to gullies and blind shots. It offers good views of North Manchester. I'm buzzing since I started scoring over 100 when I first played but today I scored 80!!!!!!!!-Best score yet. Also has a practice range and good bar. Course management a must otherwise you could lose a few balls or more. Well worth a drive.

Without a shadow of a doubt the most demanding course in Greater Manchester, if you're looking for a challenge, you've found it. The par three 11th must be amongst the most difficult in Britain. Not for the less energetic golfer.

What a monster of a golf course. The first ten holes are exhausting, the next eight are a real test. It is not nicknamed the 'assault course' for nothing! Not for the inexperienced.
