Many time have I teed it up at Hermitage with my very good friend Rev Culhane and enjoyed year round challanges of great golf. I wish Mr Kiely would reserve his remarks until after the improvements of our greens are completed.

I played Hermitage my self a number of times in the past number of years. I come over from sweden Once a year, each time i play it it brings new challenges as the owners keep upgrading or changing things to keep it fresh, i believe they have over 2 thousand members so they need to.
i recommend any one that enjoys golf to give hermitage a go its old and it has something that new courses dont have. the only thing i would have a problem with is the trees (I keep landing in them)

Hermitage golf course could very easily have been one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I have ever played. I arrived at the clubhouse at 8.00am on Sunday morning to find the place virtually deserted as the clocks had gone back the night before. This turned out to be to my benefit, as I had not booked a tee time. A very nice Kerry gentleman introduced me in the clubhouse. They then reluctantly allowed me to play, as the course was not busy.
The first couple of hole are relatively easy which I enjoy as it takes me time to get warmed up and into the swing of things. But by the time you hit the tough turning stretch of 9,10 is a beautiful par three but relatively easy, 11 (a brutally hard par five), 12 (a blind tee shot over a ridge), 13,14, you has better be into the swing of things or the course will cut you up. And then you settle back down to a relatively straightforward finishing run.
Highly recommend that you play here during the late spring summer months as the course is surrounded by trees whose leaves make finding perfectly good tee shots frustrating.
Hermitage Golf Club is over priced for the condition that it is in this time of the year. Some of the temporary greens were barely more than patches of fairway are not adequate but I do look forward to playing there in the height of its glory SUMMER.
