I would just like to explain a few things to 'Fox Mulder' about Hurtmore Golf club. Yes it is a small, exposed course, but what do you expect for 87 acres of former strawberry farm? The SSS is 67 because this is what the E.G.U wanted. Since Hoburne took over running the club, money has been spent in many areas.
The course is just undergoing a tree planting scheme, will shortly be having major work done on the bunkers and can boast the fact that over this dismal winter, we were closed for a total of 28 hours with all 18 greens open and in excellent condition. As far as I can see, this isn't too bad for a 9 year old course which has only just started turning into a real jem of a course. We at Hurtmore don't feel that critisism of this nature is justified, as 3 years from Fox's report of us is negative and also quite wrong. If he shot 70 or less, then maybe he has a point but the last person to shoot 70 at Hurtmore won our Club championship and didn't complain that it was too bland! Come back to see us, Fox, shoot 70 and then tell us you didn't enjoy yourself .

I recently visited surrey and was invited by some friends to play at Hurtmore Golf Club. The course appeared young, new but promising. The green fees were very reasonable which is always nice. The course had some challenging holes which I enjoyed. My current handicap is 12, but even this did not stand me in good stead for beating the course. A great day, fun course I recommend it.

An excellent young course that is challenging and enjoyable. Inexpensive and accessible, the course is on the small side but has plenty to challenge most golfers - the third, ninth and fifteenth are particularly worthwhile. On the debit side, it is a tight course with fairways close to one another and as it is close to the A3 there is the hum of the traffic. Greta views over the Surrey hills though!
