A pal and I have played Purdis Heath for the last four years, always in the middle of August. I play off and occasionally to 17 and Derek off 14. We both think the course is one of the best tests of Golf that we have found and one of the most attractive courses.
There isn't a poor hole on the course and it has a wonderfully 'natural' feel, by which I mean that its design takes in the woods and heath land and makes the most of both features. The purple heather at the time we play is a sight to behold .... But don't put your ball in it because you will need the wrists of a shot putter to get it out
Try this course and meet the very friendly people involved in the club organisation

This course is the most outstanding golf course in Suffolk, I played on the 31st December 99 and even though the weather has been very wet lately the course has not been affected at all. This course is a very good test of golf for all handicaps and you need good imagination to survive without dropping too many shots. All fairways are lined with mature trees, the greens are fast even in the middle of winter, and there is gorse to clear on most tee shots. A very tough Par 71.
