My son will be staying in Wareham with relatives in September as a graduation gift. He is planning on enjoying as much golf as possible on a limited budget of course. Based on the raves he will likely play this course. Would you be able to provide price for this course and any others in the area you feel worthy?

Quite simply one of the most beautiful golf experiences. Forget the springlike conditions, the overcast skies, and the lack of 150 yard marks, the course is one of those spiritual experiences that combine unique playability and visual breath taking. I looped it and will mark those thirty six holes in my golf memory banks.

Played in August 2001.This course really impressed me. It is set in a stunningly beautiful position. It is a sort of hybrid links / heathland with outstanding views of the sea and Poole harbour. Its location is enhanced with fantastic displays of purple heather in August and Yellow Gorse in spring. The holes are all interesting; each with it's own challenge.
The greens were excellent on the day we played, but the fairways were suffering from a very wet spring and burning summer. Work is underway to remedy that.
So many signature holes but the 5th was the stuff of legends. This is not a sterile modern parkland course. Go to Purbeck to enjoy a real golf course in its most traditional of forms. The clubhouse was excellent. My only complaint was the lack of 150-yard markers. I have got so used to them on golf courses that I find it very difficult to enjoy my game without them. Of course the locals don't need them, the pros have caddies to tell them, but us poor visitors suffer from 8 irons either 20yrds through the back or 20 yds short even before we take account of uphill/ downhill or windspeed.
However, I highly recommend this course. It is unique, it is beautiful and it is great golf!

If you ask me, the only problem with this golf course is its location. Without doubt one of the best courses I have played in the UK. The Par 4 fifth hole is the is very daunting, all you have to aim at is a post 150 yds away, the fairway is no where to be seen and the green miles away in a completely different direction - one of my best ever pars! The next hole is a long par 5 up hill all the way and equally as challenging as the previous. Most of the holes are worth a mention on this course but the 600 yard 10th played is a must; I hit Driver, 3 wood, 3 iron and nailed each one and was still short! Equally as good as the course is the beautiful club house - excellent service, very good food and without doubt the best views in the South of England. I had 36 Stableford points and probably haven't played as well all year. I believe anyone would enjoy The Isle of Purbeck G.C. even if they didn't play very well.

We played this course based on internet information, and were not disappointed! We played the last week of March, and had overcast but good temperature (55 F). This was my first links experience and I loved it - difficult course that plays long for the yardage, views are great, and everyone in clubhouse was wonderful. I felt a bit like a mountain goat by the last hill. If you want to know more, e-mail me! I am a 12-handicap and was plenty challenged! I hope I get to play it again in the future.
