I was on the fence before playing at Pickett's Lock as i had heard mixed reviews but me and my fellow golfer friend turned up at the first tee at 7am and had a brilliant days golf. We usually play its older brother Trent Park which is a great course but can, after playing 36 holes a weekend start to hurt the wallet. £14 for 18 holes of good golf is a bargain and perfect for high to mid handicappers. The mix of short and long par 3's and par 4's make hitting that elusive 66 as hard as a course this length can possible be.
My advice is if you are looking for a new, not inexpensive course, jump in the car and play it - you will either hate it or fall in love with it. We did!!!!

Not a championship course .... but watch out!
Golf is not supposed to be easy.
If you enjoy a challenge you should try this, short, no Par 5's to help your score, pleanty of water.
Might need to take a few extra balls with you.
The range is now close indefinitely (it was no good anyway).

The course is not too bad, the rough is sometimes allowed to overgrow leading to massive losses of balls even though you may have missed the fairway by only 1 yrd.
The worst part of the complex is the driving range. THERE ARE NO RUBBER TEES ON THE MATS! The mats are really worn down and have chunks missing out of them. Balls often have chunks missing out of them also. The worst driving range I have ever seen.

i wouldnt be so harsh on the course.yes i do agree with your words of 'overpriced' but for a beginner i believe the course is a good starting point. i would also loike to know what handicap yout are currently playing at?
maybe not that good and have no right to run your mouth off like that

As users of Municipal Golf courses in London, we believe that this is a wonderful little course not far from central London and easily accessible from Liverpool St. Station. If you take the overground train to either Ponders End and walk for about ten Minutes you arrive warmed up and ready for a challenge. Alternatively you can take the train again from Liverpool St. to Tottenham Hale and catch a bus to the Lee Valley Leisure Centre that drops you off adjacent to the Golf course.
Less of that and let me tell you about the course itself. The first tee is a relaxing 260 Yards par 4 (perfectly straight and hopefully leaving a short iron onto the green), just the job to have you begging for more, from there it is straight into the most testing hole of the course, a very long par 4, with a very deceptive length.
Although there are no Par 5's on the course there are 6 Par 3's ALL of them Taxing in one way or another(one of them is 200yards over a crevice that is more than enough to put all of us off our game). The course itself runs around a small lake in the centre of the front nine (not that it gets in the way),and then goes on to run alongside a canal for four or five holes (again these are not too bad if you don't hook).
There are a few elevated tees and also a few elevated greens, all in all it is a course that we who play it will go back to again and again, I totally recommend it to any fanatic!!
