This review may be regarded as a little biased because I designed the course.
What an amazing setting this course is in - mature parkland with enormous redwoods, monkey puzzles, rhododendrons and cedars with sparkling lakes, undulating topography and views out to the North Sea and inland to the Cheviots.
The course winds it's way through woodland and spacious parkland with tricky par-3's over the old reservoir for the house, and over ravines, with long challenging par-5's alongside lakes - it's a real pleasure to play.
The opening day in August 1998 was attended by the Duke of York and he was suitably impressed, although the course got the better of him.
Since then the course has matured well in the capable hands of Brian Consitt and his greenkeeping team. It improves year-on-year, making it a keen contender as best course in Northumberland.
