I'd like to agree with Mike. I've played here more times than i'd care to mention now, Little Hay was the first full course i ever played on!
Challenging for high and mid handicappers, perhaps a little too straight and lacking sufficent hazards for lower handicappers.
I'd also concur on the greens which are an absolute credit no matter the weather. The back nine is perhaps a little staid, but only in comparison to a lovely first nine which alternates par 5's, 4's and a three nicely.
Also worth a mention is the lovely young lady working in the club shop and the general helpfulness of the staff. Have to admit to never trying the food, but the ale is certainly wet and goes down a treat.
Do be careful of possible slow pace, especially during popular times. There is a prevailing atmosphere of friendliness that puts you at ease. Good driving range too!

I have played this course many times. I think that it provides a very fair challenge for both high and mid-handicap players. As the course matures it become more interesting and a little more challenging.
A big 'plus' is that it is open when many other courses are closed by rain. Another plus is that the greens are a credit to a public course. It is remarkable that in most winters there are NO Winter greens at anytime, but still the greenkeeper manages to present the greens in very reasonable condition. The greens are not of the finest (being a very well used public course) but they are better than many private clubs are.
On the downside - the course can get crowded particularly in school holidays. It always plays at fourball pace, and sometimes a very slow pace. Four and a half hours would not be very unusual, and there have been examples of amazingly slow play. There seems to be no interest by the management in trying to maintain a more rapid pace.
The best views from the course have been spoiled by the proximity of the new A41 by-pass road, but a number of holes still have a pleasant parkland aspect.
The catering is erratic. If you want food or drink I suggest that you phone in advance to check.
