This club was the original Rochdale GC until 1906 when the members spilt into two clubs, one becoming Lobden GC and the other Rochdale GC. At this time the members had two courses, the other being at King's Road in Rochdale.
This is a short moorland course (5770 yds) having 'electric wires' surrounding the greens to keep the sheep and cattle off. Consequently the greens are superb. However, they are small and very difficult to read - so beware, hitting the green in regulation is not everything at Lobden. The best hole is the dog-leg 6th from a high tee with OOB down the right - don't try to cut too much off the dog-leg and the green is very difficult indeed, especially when it's dry. The surrounding views are superb and make up for the lack of trees or bunkers.
If you play to your handicap here, you will have played very well indeed.

Moorland course with lots of character. On a clear day you can see Snowdonia from the 6th tee, which is reputed to be one of the highest in England. A warm welcome will be had.
