McDonald Golf Club has a very healthy membership and this is reflected in the fact that we do have a waiting list. However, we have recently increased the size of the membership and full details of costs and waiting list length can be obtained from the club secretary.
Relax in our new clubhouse, have a meal and enjoy your favourite tipple while you watch the golfers tackle the testing eighteenth hole. Special menus are offered for outings. The club steward and his wife have earned an excellent reputation for delivering a first class service, and for the superb quality of their cuisine.

| The parkland course is named after its benefactor Sir James McDonald who gifted the old woodlands to the people of Ellon. The original nine hole course wends its way through this magnificent forest with its stately trees and beautiful rhododendron bushes. Even though the forest is very close to the town it is alive with wildlife and if you are very lucky you may catch a glimpse of our native red squirrel. The well established second nine has been carefully constructed to maintain the parkland character. This newer nine has a natural stream that twists and turns across the course and features on almost every hole. Stretching to almost six thousand yards (par 70, ladies 75) this testing golf course is laid out in such a way that it is enjoyable to play no matter the standard of your golf. It provides a real challenge for the tartan tour professionals who annually play in our Pro-Am and yet is a firm favourite with the occasional golfer who enjoys a week-end walk in pleasant surroundings and in good company. |
