Meltham Golf Club occupies a place in the heart of the beautiful and tranquil Pennines, just outside the village of Meltham itself, and within a couple of miles of Holmfirth, the small town made famous by the long-running BBC series, Last of the Summer Wine. Only six miles from the centre of Huddersfield, Meltham Golf Club is easily reachable from all parts of the North of England via the M62 motorway.

Set in beautiful woodland , the course boasts hundreds of mature trees, including oak, chestnut, beech, birch and mountain ash, as well as coniferous trees of several varieties. The view from the Clubhouse across the putting green towards the 1st hole and the 17th hole shows just a few of these trees

The Clubhouse, Thick Hollins Hall, was originally the home of a local landowner, and when the golf club was founded in 1908, the hall became the centre of the club.

In recent years the lounge bar has been refurbished, and a new 19th bar has been provided. Coupled with the light and airy dining room and the comfortable Capercaillie bar, plus the excellence of the catering, the well stocked bar and wine cellar, Thick Hollins Hall provides for every requirement from sandwiches and bar snacks to a la carte meals.

Again newly refurbished, the visitors' changing room and members' locker room provide pleasant surroundings in which to prepare for, and freshen up after, a round of golf.

Meltham is a fine test of golf for both low- and high-handicap golfers. The club house, much of which has been newly refurbished, is a very pleasant place to spend time before and after a round on the interesting and challenging course.
In a beautiful woodland setting, with excellent greens and fairways, (not to mention the wonderful views of the surrounding Pennines) a par of 71 was difficult to achieve, even off a long handicap such as mine. I found the course to be most interesting, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to play an interesting and challenging course.
