One word easily describes this course - 'challenging'. Every hole can be an easy par, or grab your ball and spit it back at you without warning! Most holes have a risk/reward factor, like trying to drive the short par 4 5th, over two streams across the front of the green, or deciding to lay up or 'go for it' with the second shot at the par 5 7th. Good course management will be rewarded with a good score. There are very few bunkers on the course, but the natural lie of the land more than makes up for any artificial guarding of the greens and often a bad approach shot will be punished with the ball rolling away from or through the green. The course is in excellent condition considering the recent weather and has wintered extremely well. The overall condition of the course belies the fact that it only opened in 1994 and compares exceedingly well with other long established courses in the area. If your golf is out of kilter, stop and enjoy the magnificent views - from Blackpool Tower in the west to Pen-Y-Ghent and Ingleborough in the north-east. And if anyone's out of breath at the thought of the 503 yard par 5 6th, which boasts over 180 feet elevation from tee to green, buggies are available!

A wonderful golf course set in some of the most beautiful countryside in the heart of the Ribble Valley. A variety of distances on each hole makes sure that every shot tests all aspects of your game. The 6th, a par 5 uphill 503-yard hole, is one of the most testing on the course both physically and technically. The 18th hole is a very challenging par 3 to end on as it plays very long and from the white blocks would be a big challenge to any golfer. The course holds up well over the winter months and maintains its appearance and playing quality better than most in the area. The golf shop is friendly and well stocked, and the bar and clubhouse facilities are excellent.
